He was predeceased by: his parents, Jasper Tomes and RoLinda Gidcomb; his wife Rhodicie Tomes; his children, Tony Tomes and Donna Mulvaney; his stepfather Raymond Gidcomb; his sister Vickie Quisenberry; his aunt Lolita; and his uncles, Clarence Phelps and Carl Brooks.
He is survived by: his children, Dinah Dobbs (Bob) of Ferges and Tommy Tomes (Val); his grandchildren, Robbie Dobbs (Jen), Chris Dobbs (Rachel), Tyson Mulvaney (Laura), Lauren Francis (Daniel) and Lukas Tomes; his siblings, Joyce Crum, Mary Quisenberry and David Tomes; and his son-in-law Ron Mulvaney. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, several other family members on both sides of his family.
