He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil G. Schell and S. Elizabeth Schell (Hilliard); his brothers, John Eugene, Ivan and Phillip Schell; his daughter-in-law Judy Schell; his grandson Cecil Schell; and his great grandchild Delilah Ellis.

He is survived by: his wife Judi Schell of Johnsonville, Illinois; his sons, Steven Schell (Jamie) of Tuscumbia, Kevin Schell of Rinard and Scott Schell (Stephanie) of Flora, Illinois; his grandchildren, Rachael Ellis (Joshua Greenwood) of Cisne, Samantha Richardson (Craig) of Fairfield, Logan Colbert (Bree) of West Salem, Corey Deters (Mandy) of Flora, Amanda Schell of Johnsonville, Hayle Gray (Steve) of Flora, Jessica Ruble (Ryan) of Cisne, Heather Rice (Zach) of Xenia, Chris Deters (Beth) of Kentucky and Ashley Arnold (Travis) of Louisville; and his siblings, Janice Lowe of Cisne, Betty Kasten (Jim) of Rockford, Charles Schell (Helen) of Oregon and Jerry Schell (Glenda) of Cisne, Illinois.. He is also survived by twenty-four great grandchildren.

Due to Covid-19, face masks and social distancing is mandatory.

Memorials may be given to the Shriner's Hospital or to the family for funeral expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
