Roy Eugene Young Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Roy Eugene Young of Jerseyville, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 11, 2025 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Young and Mary Young (Crane); his wife Barbara Alice Lyles; his children, Steven "Jamie" Young and Holly Whittles; his parents-in-law, James and Alice Lyles; and his siblings, Edgar, Melvin, Elknah, Donald Young, Maxine Sweetin, Mary Louise Thaxton and Margaret Tucker.
He is survived by: his children, Kim DeSherlia (Dale) of Jerseyville, Melody Tolcua (Jim) of St. Louis and John Young of Colorado; his son-in-law Harold Whittles of Peoria; and his siblings, Doris Wedding of Dow, Frances Summers of Jerseyville and Duane Young of White Hall. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hope Lutheran Church - Jerseyville (1009 N State St, Jerseyville, IL 62052). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at the Kane Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Hope Lutheran Church, in care of Crawford Funeral Home, who has been entrusted with arrangements.
