He was predeceased by: his parents, Emory A. Simmons and Margaret A. Simmons (Rimbey). He is survived by: his former wife Martha B. Brasel; his wife Ellen Allen Elliott; his son John Simmons (Patricia) of Jacksonville; his stepchildren, Vicky Vedder of South Jacksonville and George Elliott of South Jacksonville; his grandchildren, Dusty Molohon, Ryan Vedder and Cody Vedder; and his siblings, Larry Simmons of Princeville and Sharon Minor (Gene) of Springfield. He is also survived by three great grandchildren.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Jacksonville Area Food Bank or Toys for Tots, both local organizations.
