He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey William and Edna Faye Duncan Reed; his brothers, Ovilla Faye "Vickie" Ator, Clarence Reed and Harvey Lee Reed; and also Willie Estil Reed.

He is survived by: his spouse Jean Piper; his daughters, Victoria Michonski (Mark) and Renee Reed Tearney; his grandson Max Michonski (Mary Beth Masterson) of Chicago; and also, Tom Piper (Gayle) of New Jersey and Mickey Piper of New Jersey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
