He is survived by: his children, Laura Newport of Arlington, VA, Bob Newport (Cheryl), DJ Newport of Fox Lake, Michael Newport (Amanda) of Jacksonville and Katie Waszak (Matt) of Lake Zurich; his grandchildren, Jack, Paige, Charlie, Hannah, Kaden, Cullen, Thomas and Abby; his brother Dan Newport (Connie) of Bend, Oregon; and his aunts, Janet Staples (late Bob) and Agnes Newport (late Jim).

Memorials are suggested to Transitional Adult Program (TAP) for young adults with disabilities.
