He was predeceased by: his parents, William Charles and Alice Virginia Patterson; his sons, William Charles and Richard Henry; his brother Joseph Phinney; his nephew William "Floyd" Patterson; and his niece Julie Lynn Arvin.

He is survived by: his wife Janice; his sons, Joshua and Justin; and his siblings, William Patterson, Michael Phinney, Velvet Patterson and Teresa Patterson. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews.
