He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Payne and Lois Payne (Ferguson); his son-in-law Bill Freed; and his sister-in-law Jan Payne. He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Henning (Shane) of Lee's Summit and J. T. Payne (Andi) of Overland Park; his grandchildren, Joshua Freed of Lincoln and Daisy Payne; his siblings, Jerry Payne of Chicago and Karen Ellis (Darrell) of Bloomington; and his close friend Candy Guern of Irvington. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calumet Street Christian Church in Centralia and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, Illinois, 62801, (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to Gene's Family.
