He was predeceased by: his parents, Kurt Mertinat and Erna Mertinat; his son Kurt; his siblings, Gisela and Gerhard; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Vivian McGuin; and his siblings-in-law, Madeleine Barone and Robert Perreault.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Mertinat (McGuin); his children, Jeanne Rauscher (Jim) and Kevin Mertinat (Lisa); his grandchildren, Erika, Alissa (Phil), Adam, Olivia and Kylie; and his great grandchildren, Maverik, Konrad and Dawson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 27th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the DeFiore Funeral Home (10763 Dundee-Huntley Rd, Huntley, IL 60142). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary Catholic Church (10307 Dundee Road 21784).
