He was predeceased by: his parents, Chris Bundgard and Elvina Bundgard (Thorgesen); his wife Inez Helm; his daughter Julie; his grandson Robin; his children-in-law, Sue, Robert Kiel and Noel Hansmann; and his siblings, Soren Bundgard, Signe Kanstrup and Betty Olson.

He is survived by: his children, Lillian Hansmann, Gerald "Butch" (Maryeve) and Greg; and his sister Evelyn Olbrich. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials in his name may be directed to AML Leukemia Foundation, Trinity Lutheran Church, or JourneyCare Hospice.
