He was predeceased by: his parents, John Pleban and Roselia Pleban. He is survived by: his wife Mary K. Guthrie; his daughters, Michele Colen (Mike) and Julie Clarke (Matt); his granddaughters, Megan, Jessica, Ashley and Courtney; his great grandchildren, Joachim, Gianna, Edith, Catherine and Gwendolyn; and his brothers, Rev. Alexander and Rev. Leo.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Mary/ St. Vincent DePaul Society.

“We were all saddened to learn of Johnny's death. He was a wonderful man, good husband, father and grandfather. I remember his sweet smile and dry sense of humor. Al and I loved attending your beautiful wedding and were so grateful that Johnny agreed to be the best man at ours. I have so many fond memories of him and your entire family. “Mary, Michelle and Julie. I am truly sorry for your loss. Although I did not see any of you or "Uncle John" often, he held a very special place in my heart. Not only as my godfather, but of all the wonderful stories that dad would tell about Al, Leo and Johnny.
