He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Carter Holzapfel and Thelma Holzapfel; his wife Mary Ann; his children, Jennifer Atilano (Cornelius Woods) and Jonathan Atilano (Alicia); his grandchildren, Disa, Mila and Max; and his brother-in-law Robert Crom.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
