He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Layden and Cornelia Layden (Fitzgerald); his wife Cathy; and his siblings, Mary Ellen McKean (Joe), Agnes Davis (Dave), Patricia Newman (Leonard), Edward Layden, Sr., Thomas Layden (Bunny) and Paul Layden (Lucille).
He is survived by: his former wife Catherine Marie Kerrigan; his children, Sheila Cannon of Woodburn, OR, Michele Nubel (Doug) of Clive, IA, Kevin Layden (Jill) of El Paso, IL, John Layden (Denise Powell) of Hudson, IL, Joseph Layden (Roxanne) of Westmont, IL, James Matthew Layden and Christopher Layden of Hoopeston, IL; his sister Ruth Marie Carter; his sister-in-law Eileen Layden; his grandchildren, James Richard of Joseph, II, Zachary, Kathleen, Katie, Alysa, Megan, Erin and Andy; and his great grandchildren, David, Richard and Cheyanne. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
