It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Amalia Cantu Martinez of Hoopeston, Illinois, born in Mission, Texas, who passed away on February 6, 2022, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesus Cantu and Matilda Cantu (Garcia); her husband Arnold R. Martinez; and her daughter Normita Palacios. She is survived by: her children, Jessica Martinez of Danville, IL, Jamie Alwardt (Micah) of Hoopeston, IL, Jackie Bell (John) of Watseka, IL, Jerrica Molly Martinez (Ryan Saunders) of Bloomington, IL and Orlando "Orlee" Martinez (Amy) of Rossville, IL; her siblings, Matilda Ybarra (Gregorio), Mary Sarinana (Freddy), Blanca Johnson (Darren Arceneaux), Irene Tapia (Tony), Florinda Hernandez, Norma Hernandez (Frederico), Josie Batres (Carlos), Elva Cantu and Jesse Cantu (Colleen); her grandchildren, Acacia Martinez, Edgar Martinez, Ashanté Martinez, Delin Cotton, Jelicia Martinez, Alex Alwardt, Jeleaa Martinez, AJ Alwardt, Alyssa Alwardt, Amillya Martinez, Aryanna Martinez, David Bell, Abby Alwardt and Aiden Bell; and her great grandchildren, Malakai, DJ, Ayjah, Adelia, Kyrie, Christopher, Arrow and Manolo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
