He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Spies and Geraldine Spies; and his brother-in-law Robert Nowak. He is survived by: his wife Elaine; his children, Jonathan Jeffries (Gretchen), Erica Butler (Regginald) and Scott Spies; his grandchildren, Rosalio, Samantha, Jade and Isabella; and his siblings, William Spies (Cynthia) and Nancy Quinlan (Mike). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lain-Sullivan Funeral Directors (50 Westwood Dr, Park Forest, IL 60466). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421).
