He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Joan Klutcharch; his children, Kim Heitman (Owen), Steve (Kathy), Ruth Ferraro (Spike), Christopher (Victoria), Shari Ruane, Vicki Sherwood (Kevin), Mark (Holly) and Adored; and his siblings, Peggie (Chuck), Jim (Jan), Tom (Pat), Gerry (Jim) and Steve. He was also cherished by 23 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
