It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter J. Leigh of Homer Glen, Illinois, who passed away on February 16, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Walter J. Leigh to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his wife Loretta; his parents, Walton Lee and Violet Spagnola (Sam); and his sister Rosemary Broderick (Gilbert). He is survived by: his children, Richard Leigh (Kim), Marianne Charnas (James) and Laura Ferrio (Keith); his grandsons, Eric Leigh (Lauren), Matthew Alvin (Madeleine), Cody Leigh (Amanda) and Troy Ferrio (Cynthia); his great grandchildren, Caleb, Penelope, Kira and Leo; his sisters, Mary Spagnola and Annie Daniele; and his siblings-in-law, Gerri Gryga (Ron) and Frank Zabilka (Sue).
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Richard J Modell Funeral Home & Cremation Services (12641 W 143rd St, Homer Glen, IL 60491). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 9:15 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Bernard Church (13030 W 143rd St, Homer Glen, IL 60491). An entombment will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (6001 W 111th St, Alsip, IL 60803).
