He was predeceased by: his spouse Maria; and his sibling Janina Maciejewski (late Frank). He is survived by: his children, Richard Ortiz (Diane) and Christine Ortiz (Darrell); his grandchildren, Gina Hoffman (Bill), Kevin Opalacz (Catherine), Brian Ortiz (Kristen) and Peter Ortiz (Ann); his siblings, Peter Opalacz (Pat), Mary Stemler (late Bill) and Casimir Opalacz (Irene); and also Szczepanska.
