He is survived by: his wife Susan; his children, Courtney Bissell (Justin), James Melchin (Jennifer) and Ryan Melchin (Margaret Oltman); his siblings, Linda Faraci (Peter), George Melchin (Marcia), Connie Frigo (Greg) and Gary Melchin (Pam); and his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Madeline Bissell, Bennett, Charlotte, Wesley Melchin, Theodore Oltman and Grace Melchin.

The family respectfully requests no flowers be sent.

“In loving memory of Scott Edward Melchin, Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Scott hired me as a carrier for the Daily Herald in June 2013. One of my favorite jobs - he gave me a great route, in Palatine. We have remained friends since then - lunching together many times at Denny's. Very saddened to learn of his passing. My sympathies to Mrs. Melchin and his family.”
