He was predeceased by: his sisters, Patrick Bales (Victoria) of Hinsdale, Rebecca Schmitt (Malcolm) of Sterling, Michael Bales (Karen) and Lisa Bales of Dixon. He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Mark (Jeff), Katherine Brown (Jarod) of Monona Wisconsin, Kevin Schmitt (Samantha) of Dixon, Laura Wright (Nathan) of Oak Park, Andrews Bales (Kathryn) of Oak Park, Thomas Bales of Boston Massachusetts and James Bales of Seattle Washington.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established by the family.
