It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Harvey McCaherty (Hillview, Illinois), who passed away on January 20, 2020, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his grandchild Jamie McCaherty; his great grandchild Kyle Driver; and his siblings, Virginia Dawdy, Lois Dawson and Lyndell McCaherty.

He is survived by: his children, Mila Reichert (Jim) of Franklin, Kellie Knox (Cary) of Hillview, Robert Michael McCaherty (Jill) of Flora and Mark McCaherty (Debby) of Petersburg; his grandchildren, Mikka Dinsmore (Rob), Patrick McCaherty (Megan), Aaron McCaherty (Whitney), Travis McCaherty, Shannon Ford, Amanda Driver (Scott), Lauren Brown (Alex), Dylan Reichert, Ryan Knox (Amy), Sean Knox (Abbey), Allyson Reno (Cade) and Adam Knox; and his sister Joyce Steckel.

“I remember Bob at the Post Office. Growing up in Hillview was not that easy, but I loved it and we had a center point of Gravity when the day started. White Baker would be on the steps of the post office when I was a small child I would race up to the post office first thing in the morning without eating breakfast to see if the Cardinals won or lost their games. This was when they played late out on the west coast. And Whitey was always there for me, and Bob never missed opening the post office.”
