He is survived by: his wife Sheila Dal Canton (Monte); his daughters, Paula Dal Canton of Litchfield and Jody Buntjer (Tony) of Loves Park, Illinois; and his grandchildren, Nicole Buntjer, Megan Traylor Cantrell, Madison Buntjer and Ethan Buntjer. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home (624 S Main St, Hillsboro, IL 62049). A prayer was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Agnes Catholic Church (216 E Tremont St, Hillsboro, IL 62049).

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hillsboro Ambulance Service, Renovating Central Park Pool or St Agnes Catholic Church masses.

“I was sorry to see Denny's obituary. Denny was my neighbor in Hillsboro when growing up for about the first 13 years of my life. He and my oldest brother, Jim, were great friends. We shared many great times together. Denny and I were godparents to my younger brother, Charlie., we were 13 and 12. I hold many kind and happy memories of him and his wonderful parents. Unfortunately, I left Hillsboro in high school, and we lost touch. My sympathy to his family. Ann (Cox) Zeisset”
