He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Gruenenfedler and Lois Gruenenfedler; his siblings, Michael Gruenenfelder and Lisa Burgess; his niece Kara Gruenenfelder; and his nephew Bobby Haegele.

He is survived by: his wife Chris Gruenenfelder of Highland, IL; his sons, Andy and Brandon Gruenenfelder (Ami); his grandsons, Jack, Oliver Korte and Maxwell Gruenenfelder; and his siblings, Rick Gruenenfelder (Donna) of Highland, IL, Lynn Haegele (Joe), Laurie Ashford (Jim), Leann McCaslin (Kelly) and Jon Gruenenfelder (Kerri). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
