He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Bannister and Ruby Bannister; his son Rodney Dale Bannister; and his brothers, Richard Bannister Jr., Lynn "Buddy" Bannister and Eugene Bannister.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Bannister of Highland, IL; his daughters, Kimberly Gray (Jack) and Sheri Ammann (John) of Highland, IL; his grandchildren, Zachary Dupureur (Cayla), Chloe Dupureur, Ziven Soyka, Joshua Ammann (Taylor Prusa), Nicholas Ammann (Rebecca) and Lucas Ammann; his great grandchild Addylynn Ammann; and his niece Dianna "Pixie" Helm (John) of Doe Run, MO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Memorials may be made to the Evangelical United Church of Christ or HSHS Hospice.
