He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver Thurnau and Mary "Mayme" Thurnau; his mother-in-law Opal; his siblings, Harold Thurnau, Clifford Thurnau, Lyla Gerstenecker, Jeanette Taylor, Joan Willaredt and Olive Nungesser; and his siblings-in-law, Delmar Nungesser, Dale Gerstenecker, Louis Taylor, Henry Pirok, Earl Seifried, Laurine Thurnau and Betty Thurnau.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Thurnau; his children, Jim Thurnau (Elaine), Judy Kelly (Mark) and Debbie Sonsoucie (Keith); his grandchildren, Doug Thurnau (Ariana), Geri Wohltman (Scott), Dusty Payne (Crystal), Becky San Juan (Micah), Shaun Kelly (Wendy), Robby Sonsoucie, Christy Sonsoucie, Cory Soncoucie and Thirteen; his siblings, Warren V. Thurnau and Eleanor Pirok; and his siblings-in-law, George Willaredt and Doris Wick (Vince). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with extended family.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or the Family.
