She was predeceased by: her parents, Dave Shinault and Corlie Shinault; her husband Joseph Hilmes; her siblings, Lola Sargent, Helen Nuckles, Nathan Shinault, Clarence Shinault and Elmer "Billy" Shinault; and her siblings-in-law, Veronica "Fronie" Boeckmann (Alvin), Lawrence "Boop" Hilmes (Henrietta), Greg Hilmes, Amanda Molitor (Aloys), Frances Molitor (Alfred), Florence Hilmes and Clarence "Stix" Hilmes.
She is survived by: her children, Connie Weis of Greenville, Jim Hilmes of Highland, John Hilmes of Pierron and Jerry "Tater" Hilmes of Carpenter; her grandchildren, Rodney Weis, Carla Ratermann (Mike) and Ashley Weis; her siblings, Imogene Roy of Walterboro, SC, Ernest Shinault of Cleveland, OH and Ron Shinault (Sue) of Richlands, VA; and her sister-in-law Arlene Hilmes of Beaver Prairie.
