He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Lawrenz and Margarete Lawrenz; his wife Inge S.; his sister Elfriede Kubeit; and his siblings-in-law, Therese C. Boyd, Renate I. Mikoleit, Dorothea Thiems and Egon H. Driesner.

He is survived by: his daughters, Marita Bennink (Ben) of Canada and Karin McMullen (Pat) of Highland; his siblings, Gisela Zelle and Siegfried Lawrenz of Germany; his grandchildren, Jennifer Morris (Patrick), Sandy Janes (Desmond), Luke Bennink (Jennifer), Cody Bennink (Christina), Katie, Michael L. Jacober (Brianna), Daniel K. Jacober, Andrew D. Jacober (Keri Henschen), Shawn McMullen (Jennifer), Jason McMullen and Jennifer Clark (Donnie); his great grandchildren, Jacob, Addyson, Faith, Michael, Nicholas, Hailey, Alyssa, Owen, Sawyer, Samuel, Elsa, Alexander, Mackenzie, Lillie, Rowan, Alden, Liam and Declan; and his siblings-in-law, Margit R. Lange, Manfred H. Driesner (Linda), Hildegard M. Ullmann, Arnold G. Driesner (Cindy) and Horst L. Driesner (Barbara).

“In loving memory of Karl H. Lawrenz, Please accept my most heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I remember Karl from a Writer's Group we once belonged to in Highland. I enjoyed listening to his hardship felt childhood stories. One can only imagine. His life history was amazing in more ways than one. I also remember him from Walmart. I will always remember him and his family has my deepest sympathy.”
