He was predeceased by: his wife Minnie Elizabeth Sproles; his mother Mamie Lee Barker; his sister Jeanelle Smith of Bristol, VA.; his father Ira Orie Barker; his daughter Rhonda L. Lisenby; and his brothers, Ed Barker, Bill Barker, Harold Barker and Alvin Barker.
He is survived by: his children, Ava C. "Connie" McDaniels (Robert), Joseph D. "Dean" Barker (Karen), Monty W. Barker, John M. "Mark" Barker (Sonya) and James L. Barker (Janet); and his great grandchild Many.
