He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George Phoenix and Florence Phoenix; his wife Margot; his children, Adrienne Gager (Brian), George Emmett Phoenix, III (Molly) of Vernon Hills, Hilary Alex (Nick) of Deerfield and Martha Berry (Phil) of Bingham Farms, MI; his stepson Alex Langerman MD (Charlotte) of Nashville, TN.; his grandchildren, Caitlin Gager Goodson (Andrew), Mac, Henry, Elizabeth, Sydney Gager, Sophia, Jackson Phoenix, Grace, Sam Alex, Michael and Nicholas Berry; his stepgrandchildren, Montgomery and Veronica Langerman; his great grandchild Adrienne Goodson; and his sisters, Patricia Harrington and Rosemary Campbell.
