He is survived by: his wife Susan Hanks of Heyworth, IL; his children, Erik Hanks (Stacy) of Heyworth and Jennifer Hanks (Crosby Monk) of Heyworth; and his grandchildren, Cameron Hanks, Sophie Hanks, Colton Antley, Emerson Hanks, Lauren Monk and Kylie Monk.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the "Vern Hanks Memorial Fund" which will be used to improve the neighborhood park in Heyworth.
