With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Thelma Bennett (Herrin, Illinois), born in Mattawan, Michigan, who passed away on February 13, 2020 at the age of 96. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Thelma Bennett to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Nicholas Dekema and Ilda Dekema (Hunter); her stepmother Edith; her husband James C. Bennett; her grandson Jarred Bennett; and her siblings, Aleda Keller, Orlin and Wilbur Dekema.

She is survived by: her children, Thelma, Terry Bennett (Sandy) of Paulton, Cathy Savant (Bob) of Saddlebrook, MO., Melody York (Paul) of Herrin, Toby Bennett (Gay) of Johnston City, Tammy Mostafa (Harry) of Las Vegas, NV. and Penny Richison of Johnston City; her sister Clara June Wiley; and her sister-in-law Shirley Fleming. She is also survived by six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
