He was predeceased by: his mother Janet Claunch; his father-in-law Cliff Moeller; and his sister-in-law Twila Moeller. He is survived by: his father Troy Groves; his wife Sonya Groves of Herrin; his sons, Brandon Graves of Herrin, Darin Groves of Virginia Beach, VA, Steven George of Marion, Johnathan Rice (Stephanie) of Christopher and Quintin Rice (Mackenzie) of Johnston City; his grandchildren, Lilyona Rice, Samantha Patchett, Aurora Rice, Alexander Patchett, Saylor-Mae Rice and Octavia Rice; his sisters, Lisa Groves of Herrin, Shana Johnson (Charles) of Simpson and Mindy Marshall of Herrin; his aunts and uncles, Steve Claunch (Pam) of Herrin and Terry Claunch (Kathy) of Herrin; his parents-in-law, Michael George (Danette) of Herrin and Eunice Moeller of Marion; and his brother-in-law Christopher Moeller. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
