It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael Joseph Reis of Herrin, Illinois, born in Belleville, Illinois, who passed away on June 15, 2020, at the age of 58, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Ann Reis, Sr. (Wolk) and Eastside Lumber of Herrin; and his brother-in-law Christian Boyens. He is survived by: his daughters, Michelle Ellison (Ian) of Ava, Valorie Nicole Reis of Kiehei Maui, Cortney LeMoyne of Clermont and Kalei Reis of Herrin, Illinois; his grandchildren, Madison Jacobs and Aiden Jacobs; and his siblings, Jan Reis of Herrin, Don Reis, Jr. of Herrin and Dave Reis (Suzie) of Herrin. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, social distancing is advised and the wearing of masks is encouraged.

For those who prefer, memorials may be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Temple New Kitchen Fund.

“I am so sorry about the loss of your beloved dad, grandfather, and brother. He was a very special guy. I first met him at the age of 13 years old on the Catholic school playground. I was a graduate of Herrin Jr High and he was a Catholic school graduate. He was with Jon Marcenkowski. I remember both of them asking about Herrin Jr High guys in sports and of course, the girls at my school. Mike had an infectious smile and became a good friend to me in high school. I will miss him so much.”
