He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Jefferson and Dimple Clara Followell (Hobbs); his son Bruce Followell; and his siblings, Pauline Poelman, Ruby Dismore, Gladys (Roy Whitecotton), Lawrence Followell and Robert L. Followell.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Followell of Herrin; his daughter Sheila Durham; his sister Helen; his brother-in-law Richard Roland; and his brothers, Franklin Followell and Willard (Ann Followell). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
