It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gloria Marie Newcom of Herrin, Illinois, who passed away on August 20, 2023, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Rocco Varacalli and Theresa Varacalli (Oloffo); her former husband Jerry Houchens; her husband Don Newcom; her brother Nicholas; her sister-in-law Stella Varacalli; and her daughter-in-law Nancy Jane Penninger.
She is survived by: her former husband Edward Penninger; her children, Kim Campe (Kevin) of Troy, IL and Greg Penninger (Teressa) of Herrin, IL; her grandchildren, Desi Penninger of Marion, IL, Shawn Penninger (Sarah) of Herrin, IL, Heather Rosanna Dwyer (Jason) of Crab Orchard, IL, Theresa Campe of Troy, IL, Michael Campe (Nici) of Troy, IL, Justin Lane (Brenda) of Herndon, KY and Joshua Lane of Honolulu, HI; her great grandchildren, Kaylin Penninger, Savannah Penninger, Allie Jane Dwyer, Conner Penninger, Mya Dwyer, Jameson Penninger, Gage Penninger, Samuel Lane and Cassian Lane; and her sister Grace Goodman (Ray) of Michigan. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends.
