It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Eleanor Lorene Wharton (Herrin, Illinois), born in Metropolis, Illinois, who passed away on April 24, 2020, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Holley M. Lippert and Ruth E. Lippert (Taylor); her spouse Hartsell Eugene Wharton; her sons, Michael Ray Wharton and Larry Eugene Wharton; her granddaughter Michelle Lane; and her sister Geraldine W. Gilbert.
She is survived by: her sons, Gerald A. (Judy Wharton) and John Edward (Melva Wharton); her daughter-in-law Jocelyne Wharton of Herrin; her grandchildren, Lori Ann Libby (Douglas), Angela Marie Matesevac (Robert), Allison Renae Schuster (Kyle), Travis Ray Wharton (Kana), Curt Wharton (Lisa), Stacy Wharton, Cassandra Danielle Tolleson, Marcus Bradley Wharton, Lee Eugene Wharton (Stephanie) and Cindy Barnett-Fox (Brandy Barnett-Fox); her siblings, Ada Ruth Landis of Elkhart, IN and Charles; and her sister-in-law Julie Miller of Paducah, KY. She is also survived by several great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren.
