With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dean Hughes of Herrin, Illinois, who passed away on August 13, 2024 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Omer Hughes and Geneva Hughes (Dillard); and his daughter Jenifer Jo Hughes-Rowe. He is survived by: his wife Patsy J. Hughes of Herrin, IL; his son Tony Dean Hughes (DeAnn) of Belleville, IL; his grandchildren, Christopher Hughes (Jenna) of Smithton, IL, Paige Mund (Lucas) of Waterloo, IL and Rachel Rowe of Chicago, IL; his great grandchildren, Olivia and Mason Hughes of Smithton, IL; his son-in-law Michael Rowe of Glenview, IL; and his brother-in-law Max Frailey (Phyllis) of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by other extended family and many friends.

For those who prefer, memorial donations may be directed to "American Cancer Society" and/or "Hospice of Southern Illinois.".
