She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence Hopkins and Bessie Hopkins (Barnett); her husband Harold Braswell; her brothers, Charles, Robert and David Hopkins; and her sons-in-law, Gary Woods and Ed Brewton.
She is survived by: her children, Dianne Woods of Nederland, TX, Carol Cotham of Carbondale, Marsha Brewton of Matthews, NC, Rick Braswell (Roxanne) of Port Neches, TX and Kathy Throop (Roy) of Springfield; and her sister Donna Chambers (Richard) of Springfield. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Meredith Funeral Home (300 S University Ave, Carbondale, IL 62901). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be made in Betty's name to No Greater Love Ministries and will be accepted at the funeral home.
