He was predeceased by: his parents, Shirley Hackney Sr. (Reemer) and George Hackney, Sr.; his stepmother Marjorie Hackney; his daughter Jennifer Ann Hackney; and his great grandchild Rosemary Ann Hillyer.

He is survived by: his wife Gloria Hackney of Havana; his children, Shawn Michael Hackney (Ruth) of Havana and Nichole Renee Jones (Deven Davis) of Havana; his sisters, Susie Lunini and Jodi Anderson; and his half-sisters, Dreanna and Mandy. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made in George's name to the donor's choice of organization.
