He is survived by: his former wife Arlene Doornbosch; his wife Carolyn Reich; his children, William Plachy Jr., Arlene Guinta (Donald), Barbara Glynn (Michael), Michael Plachy, Brian Plachy, Craig Plachy, Tracy Mortensen (Ed) and Eric Peterson (Sandra); his grandchildren, Kelly, Michael, Lisa, Lynn, Carly, Katie, Brad, Matthew, Taryn, Kevin, Ashley, Anthony, Kayla, Joe, Shannon and Liam; and his great grandchildren, Atilio, Cade, Mia, Emma, Nate, Nicky, Keira, Jameson and Aislynn.
