He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin C. Schmidt and Louise (Ramlow); his son Thomas A. Schmidt Jr.; and his son-in-law Robert "Bub" Coers. He is survived by: his children, Tony Ray Schmidt (Betty "Misty"), Teresa "Dollie" Heidbreder (Scott), Tina Coers and Tim Schmidt; his grandchildren, Nicole Folkman (Aaron), Chris Coers (Liddy), Mark Haberland (Kathleen), Tabatha Schmidt (Nick), Brandin Heidbreder (Samantha), Brandee Stalter (Johnathan) and Brock Heidbreder; his close friend Sue Seaman; and his stepsister Joyce Conrady (Gene). He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
