He was predeceased by: his parents, James Wilson Landis Sr. and Stell Iona Landis (Kent); his wife Marily Joyce Sandland; his son Robert E. Landis; his grandson Colin G. Landis; and his siblings, Mary Kathleen Hurd, Wanda Lutterman, Carol Cletcher, Ramona Gentry, Jim Landis Jr., Bobby Landis, Marshall Landis and Leeann Landis.

He is survived by: his son David J. Landis, Jr. (Vickie Hall) of Harrisburg; his grandchildren, Mariah Landis (Marcus Smith), Caitlyn Landis of Gainesville, Florida, Logan Landis of Princeton, Indiana, Erin Landis (Molly) of Petersburg, Indiana, Breonna Irvin (Dylan Wolf) of Raleigh, Brittani Hatton (Rian) and Sara Irvin (Jordan Aud); his great grandchildren, Tatiana, Jessa, Vallery, Josh, Elijah, Wesley, Hayden and Brennan Lincoln; his grandchild Jermaih Smith; and his sisters, Sharon Sanders (Jerry) of Harrisburg, Darlene Oliver of Roper and Janet Peavey of Garland, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
