She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Barcus and Mary Barcus (Clapp) of Hammond, IL; her husband Richard Schindler; and her siblings, Nell Eyestone (Hollis), Marjorie Jones (Arnold) and James Barcus (Gaila).

She is survived by: her grandsons, Cole and Grant Brightwell; her stepgrandchildren, Taylor, Meg and Christian; her children, Dr. Sandra Brightwell (Krys) and Samuel Schindler (Isobel); her siblings, Barbara Asghar (Syed), Robert (Sandra) and Samuel (Rita); her nieces and nephews, Arianna Barcus (Michael), Andrea Pavelski (Matt), Nisa Asghar, Tony Jones (Joan), Terry Jones Trevor Barcus (Sharon), Reece Barcus and Ryan Barcus; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Cameron, Aaron, Bradley, Eric, Lindsay and Isabelle.
