She was predeceased by: her parents, Victor Hewitt and Goldie Hewitt (Land); her husband Herbert Shallenberger; and her siblings, Norma Brooks, Ray Hewitt and Mary Hewitt.
She is survived by: her daughters, Wendy Ikerd (John) of Elvaston, Shawn Boone (Kevin) of Sturgis and Cindy Anderson (Calvin) of Burlington; her grandchildren, Dawn Johnson (Jody), Christina Ikerd, Bradley Ikerd, Andrew Boone, Jennifer Boone, Ashley Boone, Amber Hanson (Ryan), Kyle Sherburne (Kelsey), Joe Sherburne (Morgan) and Nicolas Sherburne (Tia); and her brother Richard Hewitt (Suzy) of Keokuk. She is also survived by twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be directed to the family of Carolyn Shallenberger to be used for the Keokuk Garden Club.
