He was predeceased by: his parents, Phillip Wellman and Hannah Wellman; his wife Patricia; his son David; and his siblings, Warner Wellman, Alice Frederikson, Esther Mills and Ruth Nelson.
He is survived by: his sister Irene Slettum; and his children, Karl Wellman (Cheryl), Sue Ann Kucuk and Sharon Hartshorne (David). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was an active member of St. Lawrence Episcopal Church in Libertyville and served in the church choir and on its Foundation for many years.
