He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Leonora Gorospe Smith; his children, Michelle Meyer and Michael Smith (April); his grandchildren, Dana, Gavin, Addison, Alexander and Brady; his mother Norma Fortado; his siblings, Geri Howard (Mike), Tammy Howard, Cinda Fryman, Kristine Piiparinen (James), Sam Fortado and Brett Smith; and his father Charles Smith, Sr.. He was also cherished by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Marsh Funeral Home (305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at 9:30 AM at the St Paul the Apostle Church (6401 Gages Lake Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031). A burial was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at the Ascension Catholic Cemetery (1920 W Buckley Rd, Libertyville, IL 60048).
