He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius "Dude" Schaaf and Cora Alice Ford Varble; his stepfather Glenn Varble; his brothers, Russell, Robert and Donald Schaaf; his niece Sonya Smith; and his great-niece Elizabeth Schaaf.
He is survived by: his wife Marcia K. Koch; his daughter Amanda White (Ron) of Griggsville; his stepchildren, Jennifer Lakhlani (Mayank) of Woodson and John Paul of Ina; his grandchildren, David Passmore, Haylee Passmore, Daanik Lakhlani, Trinity Schaaf, Damian White and Zaynlei Paul; and his siblings, Charlie Schaaf (Edna) of Fieldon, Bill Schaaf (Alice) of Jerseyville, Judy Roth (Carol Barnett) of Fieldon and Barb Schaaf (Carolyn Schaaf) of Fieldon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
