With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James E. Coleman of Greenville, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 20, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence R. Coleman and Bertha Sue Coleman (Barnhart); his wife Delores Korte; his brother Clarence'Shad'R. Coleman, Jr.; and his half-siblings, Cleo Schnaare and Marie Stallard.
He is survived by: his daughter Nell M. Thacker; his family Jim; his daughter Sandra K. Garmer (Doug) of Columbia; his grandchild Robert'Bob'K. Coleman (Nancy) of Highland, Illinois; his children, Jan Schrage (Roger) and Julie Caniff (Christian); his grandchildren, Cheyanne Wheat (John) of Highland, Ciara Rueter (Bryn) of Carlyle, Sarah Garmer (Jared) of St. Louis, Missouri, Jamison'Jamie' Garmer (Joe) of St. Louis, Missouri, Chad Schrage (Christina) of Atlanta, Georgia, Morgan Schrage (Bradley) of Chicago, Ami Gruenenfelder (Brandon) of St. Peters and Mallory Caniff (Mike) of Collinsville, Illinois; and his great grandchildren, Malcolm, Myla Wheat, Cayden Rueter, Oscar and Max Gruenenfelder.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Assalley Funeral Home (118 E College Ave, Greenville, IL 62246). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials: May be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
