He was predeceased by: his parents, Shelby Talbot and Emily Lucille Young (Wolfe); his wife Joyce Childerson; his brother Paul; and his daughter-in-law Mary Ellen.

He is survived by: his children, Alan Young of Greenville and Susan Sugg (Brad); his sisters, Avis Barnes (Dave) of Rochester and Sharon Suiter (Bob) of Yucaipa; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Spencer (John David) of Dublin, Megan Henschen (Craig) of Alhambra, Allison Martin (Kyle) of Troy, Ryan Sugg (Jessie), Brennan Sugg (Morgan) of St. Louis, Emma, Ethan, Easton Henschen, Tessa and Zachary Martin.
