He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Vernon and Mary Agnes Johnson (Hayes); and his siblings, Jerald Johnson, Patrick Johnson and Norma Henderson.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma L. Buchanan; his children, Terrence Johnson of Guffey, Charles Johnson (Donna) of Albuquerque, Patricia Schmillen of East Peoria, Mary LeGrand (Steve) of Cape Girardeau and David Johnson (Kathy) of Springfield; and his grandchildren, James Johnson (Tami), Ashley McCarthy (Kevin), Rachel Schmillen (Keith Goodman), Rose Schmillen (Kevan Lee Lum), Sara Pillischafske (Alex), Brianna Powers (Sean), Adam LeGrand, Chleo Hoelzeman (Jacob) and Karra Johnson. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
